Pochettino Named USMNT Head Coach Ahead of Kiwis Match
Mauricio Pochettino has been named the new head coach of the USMNT, taking over from Gregg Berhalter. The former Chelsea manager signed a two-year contract and will lead the team through the 2026 World Cup. Pochettino's appointment was supported by a philanthropic leadership gift from Kenneth C. Griffin. The USMNT is currently in a slump, having lost to Canada and drawn with New Zealand in recent friendlies. Pochettino's first game in charge will be against Panama in October.
