US Embassy in Kyiv Temporarily Closes Amid 'Abundance of Caution' Over Potential Air Strike
The US Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine, has temporarily closed its doors due to concerns over a potential 'significant' air strike. The embassy has advised US citizens to be prepared to take immediate shelter in the event of an air alert. Meanwhile, the US Department of State spokesperson, Matthew Miller, has announced that the embassy will resume normal operations on Thursday, 21 November. The US had earlier urged its citizens in Ukraine to exercise maximum caution due to the risk of a major aerial attack by Russia. Spain, Greece, and Italy had also closed their embassies for security reasons. Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, however, described the shift to remote work by the US Embassy and some other foreign diplomatic missions in Ukraine as an 'information overreaction'.
