Ukraine Hit by Widespread Power Outages After Russian Attack
Ukraine is experiencing emergency power outages due to a large-scale missile and drone attack by Russia. The attack targeted energy facilities across the country, leaving over a million households without power. The Ukrainian air force claimed to have shot down 76 cruise missiles and 32 drones, but Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that his forces struck 17 Ukrainian targets with 100 drones and 90 missiles. Ukrainian officials have warned that Russia is stockpiling missiles for another pre-winter aerial campaign against Ukraine's power grid. Around half of Ukraine's energy infrastructure has been destroyed during the war, causing rolling electricity blackouts.
