Twelve-Year-Old Boy Sentenced for Role in UK Riots
A 12-year-old boy has been handed a 12-month referral order and a three-month curfew after pleading guilty to violent disorder in Southport during the UK riots in July. The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, threw two stones at police officers during the unrest. Widespread disorder broke out in towns and cities across the UK following a stabbing attack in Southport in which three girls were killed. The boy admitted to acting foolishly and out of stupidity, and his father received a six-month parenting order and was ordered to pay compensation to Southport Mosque. The court heard the boy has had a difficult home life and a complicated and sad young life, with school not going well and alcohol issues.
