Parents Charged for Faking Son's Cancer Diagnosis and Allegedly Raising $60,000
In a disturbing case of deception, the parents of a six-year-old boy in Adelaide have been accused of faking his cancer diagnosis to raise money for bogus treatment. The couple, both 44, have been charged with criminal neglect and deception, accused of fraudulently raising $60,000 through deception. The man and woman allegedly shaved their son's head and placed him in a wheelchair with bandages to imitate radiotherapy treatment. The child has been removed from the custody of the parents, who were refused police bail and are scheduled to appear in Port Adelaide magistrates court on Friday afternoon.
