Louisiana Governor Brings Tiger To LSU Football Game
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry** brought a caged Bengal tiger named Omar Bradley to the LSU vs Alabama football game, sparking controversy and criticism from animal rights activists. The tiger, owned by a man with a history of citations for improper care, was imported from Florida for the game. Landry, who arranged for the tiger's appearance, dismissed the criticisms and defended the move as a way to respect tradition and honor the university's history of having a live tiger mascot. No state or LSU funds were used for the tiger's appearance. LSU's football team lost the game 42-13 amidst the controversy. The live tiger mascot, Mike VII, was not brought on to the field and remains in its 15,000 sq ft enclosure on the campus adjacent to the stadium.
