Conker Champion Denies Cheating Allegations at World Championships
The World Conker Championships** in Southwick, Northamptonshire, has been rocked by cheating allegations after the men's champion, David Jakins, was found with a steel chestnut in his pocket. Jakins, known as 'King Conker', won the men's competition but lost in the overall final to women's champion Kelci Banschbach. However, Jakins denies using the steel conker during the tournament, saying he only had it for 'humour value'. The event organizer, Jim Packer, has also dismissed the cheating allegations, stating that it's impossible to cheat at conkers. The tournament has been held annually since 1965 and has raised £420,000 for charity. This year's event saw a host of interesting competitors take part in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
