Texas Governor Greg Abbott** has announced that the state is taking an aggressive stand against the violent Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua (TdA) by declaring it a 'foreign terrorist organization'. Abbott directed the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to elevate the TdA to a Tier 1 gang and to create a TdA Strike Team that will identify and arrest TdA gang members. The TdA has also wreaked havoc in Colorado, with four Venezuelan national members of the Tren de Aragua gang arrested in Aurora confirmed as illegal aliens.

Robert Roberson** is set to be executed in Texas for the 2002 killing of his 2-year-old daughter, Nikki Curtis. However, there are doubts over the evidence used to convict him of shaken baby syndrome. Roberson's lawyers and a bipartisan group of Texas lawmakers have urged Gov. Greg Abbott to stop the execution, claiming that the conviction was based on faulty and outdated scientific evidence. Supporters of Roberson argue that Curtis' injuries were misdiagnosed and that she died from complications related to severe pneumonia, not abuse. Despite these concerns, the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles has rejected Roberson's clemency request, and Gov. Abbott has not yet granted a reprieve. The execution is scheduled for Thursday.
