House Dems and GOP Clash Over Biden's Afghanistan Withdrawal
Democrats and Republicans on the House Foreign Affairs Committee have released competing memos on President Biden's chaotic 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Republicans, led by Texas Rep. Mike McCaul, claim that Biden's hands were not tied by the agreement Trump made with the Taliban and that there was no plan to help Americans and allies while troops were still in the region.
Democrats, led by New York Rep. Gregory Meeks, accuse Republicans of criticizing the Biden administration for political purposes and failing to offer feasible alternatives.
Both memos highlight the failure to adequately respond to terror threats and the abandonment of U.S. weapons and funds to the Taliban.
