British Soldier Accused of Escaping Prison to Deliver Secrets to Iran
Daniel Khalife, a 23-year-old British soldier, has been accused of collecting and sharing sensitive information with Iranian agents over two years. Khalife was on remand for passing secrets to Iran when he escaped from prison and delivered a package to his handlers in Turkey. He was arrested and released on bail but later absconded from his barracks and escaped from HMP Wandsworth while on remand on terror and espionage charges. Khalife faces charges of committing an act prejudicial to the safety or interests of the state under the Official Secrets Act and other terrorism charges. He denies all charges and the trial continues.
