Both Parties Claim Victories in Tight Senate Races
Republicans Flip Ohio Senate Seat:** Bernie Moreno, a businessman born in Colombia, won the race for Senate in Ohio against Democratic incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown. Brown attempted to distance himself from the Biden-Harris record, but it wasn't enough to secure his seat.
Democrats Hold on to Michigan Seat:** Three-term Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin defeated former Republican Rep. Mike Rogers in the race to succeed Sen. Debbie Stabenow in Michigan. Both campaigns and outside groups spent millions in this highly competitive race. Rogers was a one-time critic of Trump but became a strong supporter during the 2024 elections. Slotkin has a national security background and worked for the CIA and in the Pentagon before winning election to Congress.
