John Ashton**, best known as Detective Sergeant John Taggart in the "Beverly Hills Cop" films, has died at age 76. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts and raised in Connecticut, Ashton had an extensive career with over 100 film and TV credits. He passed away peacefully in Ft. Collins, Colorado after a battle with cancer. Ashton is survived by his wife of 24 years, Robin Hoye, two children, three stepchildren, and a grandson. He was known for his role in "Beverly Hills Cop", and recently reprised it in the 2024 reboot "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F" before his passing. The Massachusetts native also starred in "Midnight Run" and "Some Kind of Wonderful".
